Even biological anthropologists whose work is not overtly applied have a great potential to effect positive change in society through their teaching. The knowledge we impart to students about ourselves as biological organisms has great potential to be disseminated by those students to their friends and families, and has great potential to change the ways they think about themselves in relation to other humans and to other animals. For me, teaching is both a grave responsibility and an invigorating way for me to share with others my knowledge about the things I find fascinating in the world. |
